For countertops, the standard is a thicker slab, around 1.25 inches (3cm), for strength and a substantial edge, and that is what we fabricate to. Most countertop projects run about one to two weeks from template to expert installation, depending on the material and the size of the job. You get the same experienced team and the same craftsmanship on a single vanity as on a full custom kitchen countertops project.

What areas of Plano do you serve?
All of Plano, across Collin County and the sliver that runs into Denton County. Our Plano kitchen is from the eighties. Is it worth replacing just the counters?
Very often, yes. A lot of east Plano housing stock is solid, well-built and dated only at the surface, and swapping tired laminate or dated tile for stone changes how the whole room reads without touching the cabinet boxes. What we will check first is whether the cabinets are level and sound enough to carry stone, because that is what decides it. If they are, counters alone are the highest-impact money in the room. If they are not, we will say so rather than set stone on something that will move.
Can you do a waterfall island?
Yes, and it is a popular request around the newer west Plano builds. A waterfall runs the slab down the side of the island to the floor, and done properly the veining continues around the corner rather than stopping dead at the edge, which is a fabrication detail rather than a material one. It uses more stone than a standard island, so it is worth deciding early. Bring the room dimensions and we will show you how the vein would fall on the actual slabs.
Can you template around a backsplash we want to keep?
We can, and we will be honest about how it will look. Working to an existing backsplash means the new counter has to meet a line that was set for the old one, and depending on the thickness difference you can end up with a visible gap or a reveal at the wall. Sometimes that is fine, sometimes it looks like a compromise. Send a photo and a rough measurement and we will tell you which one you are looking at before you commit.
What is the downside of quartz?
Quartz is low maintenance, but it is not perfect for every spot in a Plano kitchen. It handles everyday heat yet is less heat tolerant than natural stone, so a hot pan straight off the burner can mark it without a trivet. Long stretches of direct sunlight can dull the color over time, which matters for a sunny window run or an uncovered patio, where natural stone is the safer pick. On very long counters you may also see a seam, and because it is engineered you do not get the one-of-a-kind variation of natural granite. For most indoor kitchens, though, quartz is a fantastic, easy-care choice.
Is granite heat and scratch resistant?
